The Challenge
Dinner in Mind is a meal-planning mobile application designed to simplify weekly dinner decisions through personalized planning, grocery list generation, and recipe organization. The project exists to reduce daily decision fatigue around dinner without turning planning into another complicated tool.
My Role & Contribution
Through McLachlan Design LLC, I developed the product concept, brand, UX/UI, and the underlying recipe and image database. I built the connection between recipes and automatically populated grocery lists, bringing the planning experience beyond screen design into working product functionality.
Design approach
Build the content foundation
I built a database of recipes and images to support the experience. The content is part of the product’s functionality, connecting what people see with what they plan to cook.
Turn recipes into a grocery list
I built the flow that populates grocery lists from recipes, connecting meal decisions with the ingredients needed to make them.
Make the system feel simple
Setup, weekly plans, saved recipes, and meal details give the underlying data a usable structure. The interface keeps attention on dinner decisions and the next shopping trip.
What I Delivered
A working product in development spanning brand, UX/UI, a recipe and image database, and grocery-list population. The gallery shows the interface; the database and connected shopping flow are part of the build behind it. The product has not launched.
